im 38. senior engineer. 14 yoe. strong resume.
in the last year:
- 3 companies ghosted me after learning my graduation year
- 1 interviewer said "we're looking for someone more junior who can grow into the role"
- multiple recruiters suggested i "remove dates from my resume"
they dont say it out loud. they just stop calling back.

removing dates from your resume is standard advice for anyone over 35 in tech and thats exactly the problem

the "someone more junior who can grow" line is infuriating. they want a senior engineer's output at a junior engineer's salary

im 42 and a staff engineer. the trick is to stop applying to startups. big companies have better age discrimination protections

the cruelest irony: they want 10+ yoe but dont want anyone over 30. the math doesnt work unless they expect everyone to start coding at 15
