found out during a skip level that my manager has been presenting MY designs, MY docs, and MY metrics as "team output" without ever mentioning my name.
when i asked him about it he said "thats how it works at this level, i aggregate and present up"
nah bro you STOLE my work. theres a difference between summarizing team output and copy pasting my design doc with your name on it

this is literally why i keep a paper trail of every design doc i write. timestamps, version history, slack messages where i shared it first. your manager cant claim shit if you have receipts

skip level is your friend here. bring specific examples with dates. "on march 3rd i shared this design in #eng-designs, on march 10th [manager] presented it in the director review with no attribution"
facts, not feelings

i had the exact same thing happen at amazon. my manager got promoted off my work then i got pip'd 6 months later. some people are just sociopaths in business casual

not defending the manager but at director+ level everything IS presented as team output. the question is whether your manager is blocking YOUR promo by not calling you out specifically in calibration. if he's advocating for you behind closed doors thats different than if he's just absorbing credit

"thats how it works at this level" is such a cop out lmao. i bet he doesnt say that when the project fails - then suddenly its YOUR work again
