got laid off in 2024. found a new job 3 months later. been at the new place for over a year now.
but every time theres an all-hands meeting, my heart rate spikes. every time my manager says "can we chat?" i assume im getting fired. every time i see a slack message from HR i feel sick.
the layoff lasted 3 months but the anxiety is permanent. anyone else dealing with this?

this is literally PTSD and its valid. workplace trauma is real even if society doesnt take it as seriously as other forms

ive been through 2 layoffs. after the second one i started keeping 12 months of expenses in cash at all times. the financial security helped more than anything else

the slack from HR thing gets me every time. even when its just a benefits enrollment reminder my stomach drops

one thing that helped me: asking my manager directly "am i at risk?" once per quarter. its awkward but the explicit reassurance is worth the discomfort
