just joined a new company. heres my onboarding:
day 1: HR orientation. signed 47 documents
day 2: given a laptop. told to "get set up." no documentation on how
day 3: assigned a "buddy" whos too busy to meet for 2 weeks
week 2: still cant get dev environment working
week 4: still dont know what my team actually does
companies spend 50k+ on recruiting and then spend $0 on making sure the person can actually DO THEIR JOB

the best onboarding i ever had was at stripe. day 1 you merge a PR to production. every other company should copy this
