380 to 280 is not a paycut. its a lifestyle change. after taxes thats like 5k/month difference. meaningful but not life-altering if you have savings. the question is whether the happiness delta is worth 5k/month. for me it was

have you considered that the 280k offer was just the first one you got? if you seriously searched for 3-6 months you might find something at 340-350 that doesnt make you miserable. the gap might be smaller than you think
